In Aisle Eight Melds Five Genres In Self-Produced Dual Release

In Aisle Eight is Tristen, Evan, Jason, Hayden, and Ariel. These five longtime friends are on the cusp of making a huge splash into the local Seattle scene. In April of 2017, they put out their debut self-titled studio project that was a thorough exploration into rock.

The five-piece have a sound that can range from rock to hip-hop, funk, R&B, or blues. They have also strove to self-produce most of their material. Such as with their more recent self-produced EP that came out in April 2018, “No Good!” Yesterday they came back with a dual release of singles under the name “The Golden Charade.”

With one song playing into the other, you get this aftershock feel with the music. As “Charade” plays into “Golden,” they complement each other in a groovy yet chaotic way. “Charade” contains a fusion of dreamy R&B with a laid back drum beat for lead singer Tristen Stone to spit bars on.

You can also hear some bouncy synths and ethereal backing vocals from the band’s longtime friend, Madi Hagge. The song manages to progress into a swirl of soulful rock feels that leads to an almost jungle-like divergence into a trippy guitar solo. From these guitar dalliances the song seamlessly transitions into the second track, “Golden.”

It serves to mention that In Aisle Eight’s drummer, Evan George, puts in crazy work. He’s the mastermind behind the production, recording, and mixing on this dual release. “Golden” comes in on some glitch-hop vibes that I dig, with some tasteful vocal layerings, leading into more slick guitar work that glides.

This second tune has more of an R&B feel to it, featuring their guitarist, Ariel de Anda on lead vocals for the first time. The mixture of the vocal layers that wash over your face, with dueling guitar harmonies, and relaxing Rhodes chords is truly refreshing to my ears. Undeniably, this is some smooth shit. If the first song didn’t do the trick, this one will. Listen below.

In Aisle Eight – The Golden Charade

This double single release is sort of a reintroduction to what the band has to offer. I personally believe it’s ingenuity, as well as a versatility that makes blending so many genres fluid for the young dudes. And, if this is the quality of songs they can self-produce, I feel like each new release will see a further maturation in their sound. You can find them performing next at the High Dive on May 26th, and around the PNW throughout summer. Tune in now and see what’s going on In Aisle Eight.
