21-year-old Jack Harlow has been on a meteoric rise in the last two years with the release of two successful full-length albums on Atlantic Records via DJ Drama’s Generation Now imprint. His last 2019 album Confetti got him substantial attention with multiple noteworthy singles.
With each album, he’s put out a string of movie-esque visuals to accompany his biggest bangers on the tracklists. At the end of January, he put out a blockbuster flick with direction from Cole Bennett of Lyrical Lemonade for his bopping single “WHATS POPPIN.”
In his typical girl-crazy fashion you find Harlow’s vision coming to life at a local diner brimming with beautiful women. In the video you find him dropping braggadocious bars amidst a sea of women. You’ll also see him playing the part of the diner cook, to one of the loitering youths outside the establishment. I’ve never seen someone make a greasy spoon look so poppin’. Moody lighting and smoke machines come together to truly showcase the unique swagger of Jack Harlow.
The Kentucky boy has a trademark delivery that’s powerful, yet simple. He gives you easily decipherable metaphors that are still amply witty and intelligent. With lines like: “I’m getting real sick of taking advice from people that never could stare at reflections. Somewhere in there is a lesson, y’all ain’t evolvin’, it’s very depressing,” his message is clear. He’s thriving and you’re not. Throughout the video you find yourself cracking a smile because Jack perfectly emanates the persona of someone having the time of their life.

Cole Bennett came through as usual with incredible vision and direction in the video, from the shots to the set; even the props. It’s almost getting to the point where a video from Lyrical Lemonade is a sure-fire sign that you’re on the brink of major success, if not already there. Be on the lookout for the continual rise of Jack Harlow in 2020 as he prepares to drop another huge album.
