Jay Mills is a multi-talented artist from Ohio with grounded hip-hop and R&B sounds and an eye for cinematic visuals. Jay’s love for music was inspired by his religious upbringing where his father sang in the church choir. Mills also acted in plays and practiced violin at a young age.
Mills’ passion for music inspired him to receive a degree from The Academy of Music Production in Pennsylvania, and also a certificate for audio engineering from the Delaware Career Center in Ohio. These skills have allowed him to produce and engineer his own sound as he carves out his own lane. Always trying to find the art in life, his music is meant to be entertaining and purposely made.
As a videographer, Jay Mills has gained a lot of momentum. During 2019, Mills and his roommate would have people come over to do recording sessions. With that, they got a one minute video. This not only helped him build connections but also showcased his versatility as that multi-talented artist. It isn’t always easy balancing work as a “Jack of all trades,” but this constant grind has paid off. Mills and his squad are now out of the house and working in state-of-the-art studios.
Adding Another Talent
After a successful run as an engineer, Jay Mills is focusing on his transition into an artist. His fresh video for “Start Wit Me” featuring Kam Nutty is a proper track with infectious energy and a catchy hook. Jay absolutely slides on the beat as he raps about his grind, drip, and goals with the natural ability of a true MC.
One of the most exciting aspects of Jay Mills is he’s big on originality and his creative process is never the same. Sometimes he can make a song in a day, others may take him weeks. But it’s this organic flow that’s allowed him to rise in the music industry, never forcing anything; just always working. Practically living in the studio, Mills is excited to express his musical talent and drive through other means. He’s been working tirelessly with his management, USIC Brands, to release many more projects he’s been keeping in the vault.
