Jhene Aiko Provides Therapy with NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert

Opening up with a short sounding bowl session, Jhene Aiko was ready to deliver a set of therapeutic proportions. Dressed in an aqua-colored gown, she begins the set with “Lotus (Intro)”. The short concert, dubbed “the quarantine edition” by the star herself, covers the span of her discography both new and aged.

NPR says of the singer “As a songwriter, she leaves no stone unturned, explicitly expressing her struggle, joy, and sexuality while always administering the vibe.”

Chilombo, the latest from Jhene, was released shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic made its way to the U.S. The album maintains and further leans into the therapeutic nature of her music. The same approach to her music was brought to the set and creation of the Tiny Desk concert.
