LaLion Furthers His Basket Case Narrative With Hyphy Sixth Mixtape, “LIME”

New year, new LaLion mixtape. Seattle’s emotionally-driven procurer of relentless bars, Grant Lalaian, has put out his 6th tape, ‘LIME.’ Handling all the recording at his home studio, as well as producing 8 out of the 15 tracks, his tireless ambition and energy continue to flow strong.

LIME is an acronym for “Look Inside of my Envy” that brings about a new wave of thought-provoking hype music with a tinge of ominous pain, anger, and depression. The vibes on the tape range from turning up so hard you don’t care what you break. To the feeling of walking around the city on a rainy day heavily caught in your feelings.

This tape comes following up his 2017 release ‘MANGO,’ and subsequent 2019 release ‘KIWI.’ With this mixtape, we see further development of the “basket case” theme prevalent throughout his previous work. You’ll hear him pitching up vocals over haunting and booming beats amidst crooning over hooks. This album showcases range in between LaLion’s signature double-time flow.

Many of these songs came out as singles as part of his “LaLion Thursdays” series on social media. Every Thursday he put out a track leading up to the release. The kid has proven that he’s able to pump out banger after banger with little to no outside help.

Along with his own production on the majority of the tape, you can find beats by Ocean, 27Corazone, Isatorresbeats, and Sketchmyname. The mission of this album is to showcase listeners the emotional state of an artist in 2020. The acronym “Look Inside of my Envy” comes from LaLion’s relentless ambition. As well as his desire to take over the world with his brand of thoughtful, heavy, and hyphy music.

He currently boasts 100k monthly listeners on Spotify, with multiple songs over a million streams. As a solo artist out of Seattle, LaLion is definitely proving that hard work produces results. In addition to the releasing ‘LIME,’ the kid dropped off a music video for his final single, “Bright Lights (Lindsay Lohan.)” Tap in.
