Do LaB, the creators and curators of the boutique festival Lightning in a Bottle have recently announced the 2022 lineup. This five-day festival will make its way back to Buena Vista Lake for Memorial Day Weekend. LIB is draped with creative and artistic tapestry and soaked with a plethora of blended music genres. The dates for the celebration of art will be from May 25-30.
The wonderful people at Do LaB continue to establish themselves as a precedent for other west coast music festivals since 2006. In fact, they extend inspiration for other major festivals on a global scale. Lightning in a Bottle has become a destination hotspot for artists from all walks of life looking to present their art and talents to the LIB community and the rest of the world. This is due to their ability to attract lovers of art, music and festival culture.
There are three stages for performers: Lightning, Thunder… and “Woogie”
The Lightning Stage is a staple for live and electronic artists to do what they do best. For next year’s LIB, it will be occupied by performances from British indie-rock geniuses Glass Animals; Canadian-Haitian beatsmith Kaytranada; glitch hop maestro GRiZ; deep house specialist SG Lewis, the legendary pop two-piece Purity Ring, and a festival regular: Chet Faker. Let’s not forget the return of Monolink as well, in the wake of his new album and global notoriety.
The Thunder stage, home for the festival’s bass music area, morphs into a forest of trees housing a melting pot of styles and genres in the open air. This powerhouse of a lineup will feature familiar artists like Big Wild, CloZee, and Los Angeles bass icon Ekali. The lineup also branches out to artists from other genres like Jamaican reggae singer and rapper Koffee, and American rapper and singer GoldLink.
The people who have experienced the orchestra of art and culture know of the memorable house and techno hotspot known as the Woogie Stage. It will have a full day of programming on Thursday of the 2022 Memorial Day Weekend event. The stage has an insane international lineup including South African top dog Black Coffee, Four Tet, and Maya Jane Coles. Not to mention electronica pioneer Max Cooper and Jon Hopkins will bless the Woogie Stage. In addition, there are artists spanning across the decades, like VNSSA, HoneyLuv, Kyle Watson, DJ Minx, and LA’s Marques Wyatt.
More Than the Music and Art at Lightning in a Bottle
In addition to the three stages, this year will include a 150-foot immersive, sound-reactive video sculpture. It will be located outside LA’s Banc of California Stadium during the three-day stay of RÜFÜS DU SOL. It represents a preview of the installation appearing at Lightning in a Bottle. Furthermore, there is a new VIP experience that allows pass holders to enjoy backstage lounges, where they can grab a drink at full bars and watch the performances at an elevated Lightning Stage viewing area.
But wait, there’s more! LIB is adding a boutique camping experience called Atlaswyld. This festival-within-a-festival will offer glamping options and elevated content ready for exploration. Stay in an exquisite Bell Tent, Kodiak, or Airstream and enjoy the array of other activities. This includes yoga, wellness classes, culinary programming, Happy Hour mixers, and many other high-end events. These add-ons are the cherry on top of the festival’s immersive landscape of artistic wonder and adventure.
Lighting in a Bottle will have its homecoming on the beautiful shores of Buena Vista Lake in Southern California. It will sit right in the traditional Memorial Weekend date at the end of May 2022.
