Washington Duo Lonely Together Drops Nostalgic New Music Video For “Can’t Believe It”

Lonely Together drops a hot new music video for their summer single, “Can’t Believe It.”

This music video sends us back in a time machine to an 80s-inspired prom filled with a commanding drum beat that pushes the song while being driven by a simple, but strong bassline.

“Can’t Believe It” Mixes 80s Sounds With Classic Lonely Together Sounds

The duo from Bellingham starts the song with the drums at full speed on the first beat. It has an almost deceptively upbeat feel to it, but once the bass and the wet guitar chords kick in, a very nostalgic feel becomes very apparent. Zack (aka SAFE TRVLS) and Rosie sing back and forth in flowing melodic lines floating on top of very soft, yet affirming vocal harmonies. Additionally, they sing of new, reciprocated love. This is a conversation of the first time they locked eyes.

Nostalgia Is Key

“Can’t Believe It” screams nostalgia in all aspects of the song and music video, because the premiere has lyrics of their first night meeting, an 80s prom music video, and sounds that sound inspired by The Weeknd and Tame Impala.

The song is filled with young love and new love with SAFE TRVLS singing the first lines of the song, “when I saw you from across the room, knew that I was gonna have to learn a thing or two.” Rosie affirms his realization and his need to grow and learn by singing, “I ain’t got no time to waste, I’m just keeping with the pace…because everything you say you gotta own it.” Of course, it had to be tied off with a solid guitar solo with clean effects and buttery reverb.

The music video for “Can’t Believe It” was shot and edited by a collaboration with Dante Check and Chris Munson. The Lonely Together music video was a gigantic project that took months of planning, prepping, and executing. The Acme Elementary gym had a major makeover into an 80s prom venue for the video.

Furthermore, this was a well-coordinated project that consisted of roughly 30 people for casting, set design, technical logistics, and hair and makeup. The video also featured the Western Washington University dance crew, SINI-HHA, with choreography by Eleni Walter.

The duo has been killing it as far as representing Bellingham, Washington’s music scene. This shows consistency in the music by SAFE TRVLS since the “Hold Me Down” track. This can likely only lead to future hits and successful projects for the duo.
