If you’re a Washington native, then Manatee Commune is a name that’ll ring a bell. Manatee Commune, or Grant Eadie, started his music project out of the Bellingham woods and played at big Washington festivals, including Sasquatch!, Bumbershoot, and Capitol Hill Block Party.
“Famous” is the third single that is being released from his upcoming album, PDA. Previous released singles include “Carried Away” and “My Dearest Friend.” Grant has again crafted another highly personal homage inspired from his childhood memories. The latest single tells the story of the seduction fame has on a young and naive dreamer.
Manatee Commune states, “I wanted to capture that feeling every kid has when they are alone, rocking out to their favorite song, fantasizing about becoming rockstars or celebrities. To illustrate that titillating feeling when not only have you made it to the top but are also envied by every person you’ve known since childhood. And how that ‘feeling’ is misunderstood and really pans out if/when you actually achieve (any modicum) of success.”
Earlier this fall, Manatee Commune invited his fans to be a part of the album by submitting personal voice memos. To invite people to be a part of the creation of something so personal is quite refreshing and intimate.
Manatee Commune’s light, upbeat, and glittery sound has brought his many fans over the years. He’s an incredible talent in the Seattle music scene and contributes so much to it. His stage presence and music has earned him the opportunity to tour with talented artists like ODESZA, Slow Magic and more. Keep up with him and stay tuned for PDA in early April!
