If asked to describe his sound, I would label Marc E. Bassy as “pop,” but that’s a wild understatement. He has put out hip-hop, RnB, and experimental pop music over the years as he tries out different sounds. I’ll skip all the factual information about him and his career that you can find online and get to what you might not know about him.
I’ve been a fan of Marc E. Bassy for a couple years, and he is one of the few people that I care for and admire beyond their musical career. He is truly the definition of an artist who offers more than just music. He’s an intellectual who strives to better his community, and speaks out on social events and injustice. He puts his talent of writing into work in his music; he’s an incredible lyricist, and has written for some of the biggest names in music.
After the release of his debut album, Gossip Columns, he has been touring with Bebe Rexha on the Bebe and Bassy Tour. It kicked off in Seattle, and I was welcomed by Bassy and the crew to join them and witness the behind the scenes madness. I’ve gotten to know them these last few years and they’ve treated me with kindess and respect, like family.
Despite the run-in with minor issues, the set was amazing; I don’t know how they do it, but it feels like each show is better than the previous one and they continue to outdo themselves. The Los Angeles crooner put on a show to remember and made the crowd fall in love with his smooth voice as he serenaded them.
If you have the time, I would strongly recommend giving his album a chance! Check it out below, and it’s also available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music platforms.
