For anyone that knows me and my music tastes, it’s mostly hip-hop being played at all times. Listening to hip-hop is then closely followed by debating it, breaking down bars and making endless lists. On the other side of the coin, I also love well-crafted pop music. Catchy choruses, pulsing production and singing (okay screaming) along to the verses is part of my secret identity. Enter Modiv and his new single “Baesick.”

Modiv – Baesick

Modiv used to be more of a rapper. This year he has made a seamless transition into electronic-infused pop with the release of his new single. “Baesick” is the first single from his soon to be released EP Hella Feels. Featuring production from the likes of Seattle powerhouses Jake Crocker and Randy Ross. We just might have a budding pop-star from the town.

This song is a great introductory into Modiv’s music. A catchy electronic bop (produced by the aforementioned Jake Crocker) matches the colors and aesthetic in the new video. It’s been stuck in my head for the last week and I quickly added this track to all of my Spotify playlists.

The new EP will be released on February 14th on all streaming platforms. Valentines Day seems appropriate for the release, as it’s five songs that can serve as anthems for those currently going through a break-up. Done wrong by an ex? Modiv is here for you. You can pre-order the EP on iTunes right now.
