If you’re from the West Coast and a fan of hip-hop, Mozzy is likely not a new name for you. In a CMG (Collective Music Group) press conference the other day, label headman Yo Gotti announced he has officially signed the Sacramento rapper. This adds to a strong roster that already includes Moneybagg Yo, 42 Dugg, Blac Youngsta, and EST Gee.
This wasn’t a deal that happened over night. Mozzy and Yo Gotti have been running into each other and having conversations for years now. Mozzy has also collaborated with Gotti before on “Famous (I’m the One),” as well as with now label-mate EST Gee on “Beat The Case” from his album Untreated Trauma. Gotti revealed during the presser that he and Mozzy had been sharing ideas for a while now and that it was finally time to bring in the Cali rapper to CMG.
“Overdue, Overdue, Out the Gate”
Mozzy’s story proves just how much effort and time goes into this rap game if you want to make it big. The 34-year-old rapper has been pretty successful for some time now. But, this next step will only bring him new heights most can only dream about. It wasn’t easy, he explained in the CMG presser about how Gotti told him to get some things in order before they could really start working together.
Taking those words to heart, Mozzy got to work and fast-forward a few years later, he’s up and stuck as one of the hottest artists coming out of the West Coast. He’s possibly about to be one of the hottest artists in the game as a whole.
“We had conversations, he told me there was a seat at the table. I had to get my life right, tie up a couple of loose ends. I tied them motherfuckers up, we here now.”
