Raz Simone has dropped the first single off his upcoming album “Cognitive Dissonance.” The track, titled “Don’t Shine,” showcases Raz’s lyrical talent as he both sings and raps throughout. The beat is comprised of an intense bass line and commanding drum track which accentuates the emotion and experience Raz conveys through his lyrics. The track is heavily rooted in the northwest, bringing everything back to the lines “Where I’m from when the clouds come out then the sun don’t shine round here.”
“Don’t Shine” is the first release from Black Umbrella under their new partnership with 300, a content company and record label founded by Lyor Cohen and Todd Moscowitz. Raz has been working hard over the past year to successfully “bridge the gap” between his own brand, Black Umbrella, and 300. He appeared on MTVnews mid-january to break down this new relationship, saying that “everything has been great so far.” Keep an eye open for a “Cognitive Dissonance” release date, and bump this track in the meantime.
