One of Seattle’s favorite stoned MCs, OG Mambo, is back with his new EP, Taste Test: Hard Liquor. Known as a visionary and leader, he elevates his sound with this EP as he consciously grows as an artist. The Hard Liquor EP is that soothing shot after a long day; or that first heavy drink to start off the evening and so many other tasteful situations.
With a focus on various sonic abilities, production was headed up by Messiah Beats, out of Jamaica, and Kaleem, two very talented young producers starting to make a name for themselves on the scene. The EP was crafted to make heads nod and faces grimace just like that first shot of some hard liquor.
OG Mambo worked heavily with his engineer and team in order to put together a creative track-list with voice skits and memos from the likes of Ishmael Butler of Digable Planets and Shabazz Palaces, mentors and personal friends of Mambo.
Taking a Shot of ‘Hard Liquor’
Front to back, this project rides smooth. It will not only get you to the club but will keep the party going once you get there. Mambos track “West Wing,” his most recent video release, features elaborate sonic pockets and harmonizations, cementing itself as one of the fan favorites off his Hard Liquor EP. This track helps create the buzz he’s circulated throughout Seattle this past year.
The Wine&Dine and Hard Liquor EPs are the first two installments of Mambo’s Taste Test projects, allowing him the creative space to make different songs for different audiences. He taps into different facets of his culture and upbringing, which shapes the father, businessman, and artist we know now as OGÂ Mambo.
