The Thesis PDX To SEA Brand Feature: Papa Jesus Farms

Papa Jesus Farms: Family Owned Cannabis Grown In Oregon

Papa Jesus Farms is an Oregon cannabis brand that was started to help people. They focus on rare genetics, small batches and handcrafting their products for different consumer wants. Whether you had a bad day at work or you need medicine for a terminal illness, Papa Jesus wants to help. Papa Jesus Farms was started by Clent Baker after he saw firsthand the medical benefits cannabis had on his father.

Baker’s father suffers from stage four liver cirrhosis. After nearly a two-decades from abstaining from weed, Papa Baker discovered cannabis helped him live a more normal and productive life with his liver condition. For over a year, Papa Baker was in and out of the hospital on a monthly basis and was taking prescription pain medication regularly. Smoking strains of weed with high THC and CBD content has helped him ween himself of prescription pain medication and has kept him out of the hospital for over a year.

Baker moved back home after his father became ill to help out his family. After he saw what cannabis did for his dad, he made the decision to pivot career paths towards Oregon’s legal cannabis industry. He wanted to grow cannabis for not only his father but anyone who needs it or wants it to make their life better.

“Everyone needs a little cannabis in their lives”  The Papa Jesus Farms moto

The name Papa Jesus Farms was named after Papa Paker. Papa Jesus was a nickname given to him by Clent and his brother one night after a crucial smoke session. Papa Baker was sprawled out on the floor in his favorite bathrobe, looking like a stoned Jesus Christ. The Baker brothers started calling their dad Papa Jesus and it stuck.

The name Papa Jesus also provided Baker with a unique branding opportunity and as a way to stand out in a market that is oversaturated with cannabis. The other way Papa Jesus Farms is carving out their own niche revolves around staying small. This will let them spend more time with each plant in all four different lines of cannabis. Each product line features a unique trait that will attract a different type of smoker and cannabis connoisseurs. Their four lines of cannabis are the heirloom, boutique, house-crafted, and landrace.

The heirloom collection is for the old school stoners. This collection features old-school Haze and Kush strains.

The Boutique collection features strains with loud terpene profiles and high THC content. These strains have exotic flavors and are highly sought out in Oregon’s cannabis market.

The house-crafted line is Papa Jesus Farms seed to sale line. They do all the breeding, cloning, and pheno-hunting, etc. These strains come directly from the Papa Jesus Farm’s personal stashbox.

Finally, the landrace focuses on pure genetics from around the world. Landrace strains form the base of all cannabis genetics. A landrace strain is either 100 percent sativa or 100 percent indica. Papa Jesus Farms sourced these strains from India, Pakistan, South America, and Africa.

Papa Jesus Farms wraps their cannabis packaging with strain-specific artwork with bright colors and silly characters, that will be hard to miss when they come to retail shops sometime in 2018. Once their OLCC producer license goes through, they will be working with retailers to get customers all Papa Jesus Farms bud they can handle.
