The New PAX Era Pro Is A Smart Vaporizer Focused On Transparency And Education

It’s the beginning of a new decade and the dawn of a brand new Era. The cannabis extract vaporizer manufacturer, PAX, just launched the new model of their popular device, the PAX Era Pro. The subtle differences in the hardware and major software updates make for an enhanced experience like none other on the market.

If you are already a PAX Era user, you’ve probably seen the new pod packaging that was rolled out quietly. Previously, Era pods were being packaged in circular plastic containers that were extremely difficult to open. When you did manage to get it open, the pod would go flying across the room. Recently, the market saw a step towards sustainability with new PAX Era pod packaging made of 100% recyclable boxes, replacing the impenetrable plastic discs.

Not only is the new packaging more eco-friendly, but it features the patent-pending Leaf-Locker design which locks the pod in a retractable tray that stays in place through an innovative flap system that is child-resistant while remaining simple to open. Intelligent, sophisticated, and transparent the PAX Era Pro is a smart vaporizer device for any cannabis consumer to consider buying.

What’s The Difference Between The PAX Era and PAX Era Pro?

Price

So what’s the difference? For starters, the price. PAX Era devices are available right now for just $30, which is comparable to AiroPro, its biggest proprietary competitor. The Era Pro, however, carries a $70 price tag. The pods are still only available in the half gram size and run anywhere from $40-$50. If you’re looking to get set up with a device and pod for the first time, you’re looking at roughly $120 to get started.

Battery Power

With a price that’s more than double the original, there has to be a pretty good reason for such a large bump in cost. The PAX Era Pro has upgraded its lithium-ion battery to boast 12 hours of usage time, as opposed to its predecessor which lasts for eight hours at most. The USB-C cable that is included in the box helps charge the Era Pro incredibly fast; it’ll easily go from dead to having a full charge in just 45 minutes.

Temperature Control

Here’s where things get more interesting with the new PAX Era Pro. The device will actually read the pod you put in and it will self-adjust the temperature for the best experience for that specific pod.

Now, a disclaimer for Apple users, the PAX app is only available in the Google Play Store, at the moment. You must update the firmware on your new PAX Era Pro, through the app, before getting to enjoy the full benefits of what the Era Pro has to offer. PAX is working with Apple to hopefully resolve this issue in the near future. For now, find a friend with an Android and update your device through their app.

Now, back to the wizardry that is the self-setting temperature control. When you have paired with the app, you can watch this happen in real-time and see your settings change. You can still fine-tune your temperature to whatever you like, but PAX will suggest the optimal temperatures for best flavor, best vapor, and their ExpertTemp. As an Apple user, as long as you have updated your device you can shuffle through 4 temperatures in 90-degree increments by popping the pod in and out of the device quickly. Personally, I would stick with the recommended temperature that PAX sets the pod at. Cannabinoids and terpenes are fragile compounds that lose potency when exposed to high temperatures.

App Compatibility

That brings me to one of the more fascinating updates to the PAX experience, the strain library. Every NFC-enabled pod has its own PodID that will connect to an entry in the PAX strain library. Information about the pod material is provided by the producers and processors themselves.

Depending on what they provide, you can see a variety of information on that specific pod like the state-required test results that include cannabinoid percentages and terpene breakdowns. No more games or changing the petal colors, now the app is all about exploring the world of cannabis.

Dose Control

The app also has the Dose Control feature that sets a limit on how much vapor the PAX Era Pro will produce. A percentage bar will appear on the screen and will fill up as you continue your session. Once you’ve hit your set amount of doses the haptic feedback will alert you that you have completed your session.

Transparency is the key here. PAX is looking to redefine the way consumers look at their pods. Every purchase should be an educational experience that ultimately helps you discover what strains best respond to your own unique body chemistry. Understanding your endocannabinoid system and what it needs to run efficiently is the next era of healthcare and the PAX Era Pro is helping us get there, one pod at a time.
