The Pacific North West has numerous recording studios available for local artists to utilize! If you research enough you can find plenty of locations that will work with singers, rappers, bands, producers, and much more. No matter what your musical talent is, there is definitely recording studio that can suit your style and needs. Myself and RMR super grinder, Joey Brabo, have been networking in the North West music scene extensively over the last 10 years and have created many connections to different studios all over Seattle, Tacoma, and even Portland!
We have created a short list of some of our favorite PNW recording studios to work with and suggest you utilize one of these locations if you are looking for some quality studio time. #SupportLocalMusic
Greater Seattle/Tacoma
Purple Door Studios (Seattle, WA) – Sitting in Seattle’s ever poppin’ Belltown neighborhood lies home to some of the trillest music in the city. Seattle OG Jake One, The Physics Justo, and up and coming engineer Seth McDonald call ‘Purple Door Studios’ home.
The Shop Recording Studio – (Tacoma, WA) – DJ Phinesey is a #locallegend in the NW hip-hop scene and is the ideal person to go to if you’re looking for a quality recording session around the Tacoma area. Mixing, mastering, tracking, and even writing session are all available to
Digital Age Sound (Seattle, WA) – D-Sane is a Seattle legend and has had a huge hand in building the sonic tone of music from the city for well over a decade. From Macklemore to Sean Price to Dave B to Planet Asia…he has done it all! D-Sane excels at all facets of audio engineering whether it be tracking, mixing, production, or mastering. We have personally done business with this man and vouch for his service, speed, and quality.
High Class Studio (Seattle, WA) – High Class Studios is one of the go-to studios in downtown Seattle and is located near Pioneer Square. It is one of the more marijuana friendly studio locations and is operated by Zac Levine and Chris Pack. Both individuals have 5+ years of experience producing, engineering, and mixing both rap and hip-hop. This studio brings some additional services to the table that we highly recommend for lesser-known artists. Their connections can do wonders for an artist’s marketing!
Undercaste (Shoreline, WA) – Undercaste Studios may be the most recognizable studios in the greater Seattle area for hip-hop. Countless hits have been recorded here. Take a look at Undercastes’ discography and you will see Seattle classic after classic recorded within their walls.
Greater Portland
Momentum Studios (Portland, OR) – Zebulon Dak is THEE most recognizable name when it comes to engineering music in Portland. This guy has recorded and mixed everybody in the area! We’ve known Zeb since 2007ish and recommend him for anything related to tracking, recording, mixing, and/or mastering.
South End Recording (Multnomah/Portland, OR) – Nick and Norvin down at South End Recording in Portland’s Multnomah neighborhood have an amazing facility. They have a full live room, awesome booth, as well as a B room available to use in house. After doing business with these gentlemen, I can attest they are stand up individuals and Norvin went above and beyond our entire session to accommodate us. Really can’t say enough about the service they provide!
Greater Eastern WA
M Status (Yakima, WA) – If you live on the East Side of the mountains, M-Status is one of the few names you should know if you are looking for production and recording. Stats has produced music for easily over 100 artists including Baby Bash, Montel Jordan, and other notable industry acts.
