“Po’est Pimpin'” // IAME x Lucas Dix [Produced by Gavin Theory (RIP)]

Yesterday, IAME and Lucas Dix released a new track produced by the late Gavin Theory. Gavin was taken from this Earth too early, losing his life in 2012 to cancer. This track is an awesome song, on its own, but what makes it beautiful is that it allows Gavin to live on in the music he created before his passing. IAME and Lucas Dix used Gavin’s beat to make a song that not only feeds their audiences appetite, but also honors Gavin’s legacy. Gavin was a quality musician and person. He created music that spoke for itself and appreciated the important things in his life, never taking friends, family, or the Northwest music community for granted.

“I was always blown away by the immediacy of his onstage persona and by his offstage humility and realness. He was a funny, immensely creative and talented guy making music well outside the Portland norm for audiences who consumed that music with a rabid appreciation… It’s hard not to be pissed off when someone this young and bright dies, even if it’s someone you only knew from a distance. What I’ve noticed about Gavin’s friends and colleagues, though, is that they’re all using his death as an excuse to be more open-hearted and more creative. I really can’t think of anything cooler to leave in your wake than that kind of inspiration.” -Willamette Week; Remembering Gavin “Theory” Soens (You can read the full article HERE)
