P-Lo Drops His Highly Anticipated New Album Titled Prime

Bay Area rapper P-Lo has dropped his highly anticipated album titled Prime. In the trailer for the project, he stated that “you never really know when you’re in your prime, but this feels like the beginning,” which is a perfect representation of the project.

P-Lo is a Bay Area icon who’s made some of the biggest West Coast slaps over the years. “Put Me on Somethin’,” “Feel Good” and “Blue Hunnids” are some of the hits he’s made. I’m convinced that 90% of California knows the lyrics to the intro of “Put Me on Somethin.'” Obviously, P-Lo knows how to make hits for the people. I suggest everyone to get familiar with this Bay Area icon.

Prime is nothing less than I expected. Although there are fewer features compared to previous albums, it’s clear that P-Lo is very particular about the people he collaborated with and put on the album. A lot of the features are California artists, which include ALLBLACK, SOBxRBE, and Dom Kennedy. However, this album proves that P-Lo has grown a lot since his last album, and having tracks with no features displays his skill set and growth.

The album is a mix of heart-to-heart tracks and club hits. My favorite tracks that are more honest and vulnerable include “holding on,” and “woke.” In contrast, for tracks to get dumb to, I like “bblu” (acronym for bad bitches link up), “same squad,” and “bamboo.” In terms of lyricism and production, this album is all around A-1 like steak sauce.
