Raz Simone’s Trap Spirituals is Here!

The anticipation is over, Raz Simone’s Trap Spirituals is finally here! Fans have been eagerly waiting for the past few months as Raz waited for the right time to release his new project. After a small local beef and features from both Vibe magazine and The Fader, Raz decides its finally time to let loose of his new masterpiece.  Although numerous songs have previously been released via music videos, the complete project had yet to be heard by the general public. In fact, the only record I didn’t recognize from previous loose releases was ‘Respect For The Dope Fiends’ which happens to be one of my favorite records on the entire project. This is honestly disappointing to say the least. As a fan I have waited to hear new sounds and to finally have the project here, and only one track is new was definitely a let down. The project is still great, and probably my favorite Raz disc to date, but never less I was hoping for more ‘new’ music.

Raz Simone – Trap Spirituals

Trap Spirituals shows Raz’s growth as an artist. His sound has transformed from a very cinematic poetic feel found on Cognitive Dissonance to the trap inspired sound on Baby Jesus. While the bridge can be found on Cognitive Dissonance Part II, Raz has never abandoned his roots.  A very intelligent view of the world from a child of the ghetto, Raz has the city of Seattle riding around to trap music chanting out cries from the unheard voices of the hood.

Personal Favorites: Green Light, Oh Lord, Respect For The Dope Fiends
“Put that bread before most things”
