Supertask Talks Downtempo Music and Future Projects in New Interview With Real Respects Real

Real Respects Real Interviews Rogue Agency Artist Supertask

Yo yo yo its ya boy Rome here with another artist spotlight. This time around we shed light on Oregon based music producer Supertask. I first discovered Supertask about two years ago and I’ve been slacking on getting the word out about him. Nonetheless, sometimes good things come to those who wait and now you are all in for a treat.

For those of you who know me, my two most sought-after styles of music are dark/underground and downtempo vibes. Supertask brings those two worlds together with a unique blending of styles. No track that he puts out sounds like another he’s released. I figured I’d highlight the track that hooked me on his music as a gateway to his discography (Which mind you is 40+ tracks of excellence. Check those out here, Supertask’s Discography):

Supertask was just picked up by Rogue Agency, a talent agency which has an incredible roster of artists I’ve worked with in the past. Coming off that huge announcement, Supertask also has a killer EP on the way with fellow artist Seeded Vision and an assortment of solo music, visual media and sample packs set to arrive toward the end of the year. It’s time for you to check him out RIGHT NOW. Naturally, I had to sit down with Supertask to get the inside scoop on his future with music, feelings with superstition and where we can go to find out more!

Real Respects Real with Supertask

RMR: What inspired you to become a music producer?

A: My creative work used to involve filming all my friends in middle school doing crazy things and skateboarding. My group of friends fell apart over the years not leaving me with much to film anymore. I bought a used computer and one day I accidentally opened a Digital audio workstation. I already had a musical background being in bands growing up. After opening and playing around with it, I ended up with a finished song on my screen after about 12 hours of sitting in front of my computer. I realized at that moment it was going to be my outlet because I didn’t need to rely on anyone but myself to finish something creative.

RMR: Describe your style and aesthetic? What do you want your listeners to experience when they here your music?

A: My style is always changing, But currently I’m into making Deep, Dark, Heavy Bass music. I want my music to remain as subjective as possible. Im super Introverted and love music that is open for interpretation so I can make my own narratives. I want my songs to be the vehicle people travel in while exploring themselves.

RMR: What are your thoughts on the art of downtempo Music? Do you draw influences from any particular styles of music?

A: I love downtempo music. I feel that space is a very prevalent part of it. Space is an expansive force and downtempo music typically captures that for me. Influences musically draw from Glitch Hop, Hip Hop, Dub, Reggae, Jazz and pretty much any Electronic music.

RMR: Do you have any big projects coming up that we should know about?

A: I have a solo EP and an EP coming out with my good friend Seeded Vision soon. Got some other Collaborations in the works as well with some really awesome vocalists and producers.

Now for the important questions…

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: I love Burritos and Tacos. I can’t pick a favorite without making the other one feel bad. So they both win.

Q: Do you believe in Bigfoot?

A: Facts don’t care about your beliefs. Belief is the enemy. I’m way into science and evidence. I could be wrong but the last time I checked the evidence for Big Foot is essentially non-existent.

There you have it folks! Be sure to check out music by Supertask. You will not be disappointed. Until next time!!
