Recess, a sneaker boutique that has been serving the greater Seattle area for the last several years has officially moved locations. The sneaker boutique relocated from the University District to the SoDo district to start off 2019 strong. We stopped by the other day to take a look at their new and improved collection. At the same time, we managed to ask a few questions about their transition. Be sure to check out their responses below!
RMR: First off, how are you liking the new location?
Recess: The new location is going well. We miss some of
RMR: New year, new you right? What are some new changes you plan to implement rolling through 2019?
Recess: Yes, most definitely. We are trying to do more events, collaborations with like-minded people, and more merch!

RMR: What initially sparked the idea years ago that at some point a sneaker boutique storefront could arrive in Seattle?
Recess: The amount of sneakerheads in Seattle and the surrounding areas needed it! Demanded it. We are the longest opened consignment store in the area but we don’t mind that other ones have popped up. It just means that there is more demand then we could supply. As much as we love to be able to supply every customer that’s just not a realistic scenario. It’s good for the city to have multiple shops that are doing like things.
RMR: Where did the name Recess come from?
Recess: We had a brainstorming session to come up with the name and that one stood out to me because back in the day (when I was young, I’m not a kid anymore –
RMR: For someone that might be looking to open some sort of boutique whether it be for sneakers or apparel, what’s one piece of advice that you would offer them?
