Post Malone and 21 Savage continue the trend of actual music videos with the Emil Nava directed, Rockstar. The offering is action laced with visually pleasing elements jam-packed into the 4-minute clip.
The video takes major cues from martial arts based films Kill Bill and The Matrix. It opens with an advisory warning due to the graphic nature of the short film. From there it transforms into a bootleg Quentin Tarantino production.
Dressed in all white, White Iverson takes on his foes in the dreamy sequence sending blood, organs, and swords flying everywhere. The video cuts to Posty sitting in front of a desolate tree with a snake slithering around and on him. Dressed in all black, Mr. Savage does his gangster best by barely appearing in the video during his own verse, leaving most of the clips of the battle to entertain the audience.
The video ends with a blood-drenched Malone and Savage staring at the camera victoriously after having seemingly defeated their enemies in all black. Inexplicable blood is scattered across everyone after their opponents sit there and await their demise.
Rockstar, remains the number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks. The single is off Malone’s upcoming Stoney follow-up, Beerbongs & Bentleys. Due Dec. 1, Post Malone’s album is expected to feature appearances from Nicki Minaj, John Mayer, Ty Dolla $ign, and Tommy Lee.
