Sam Lachow Makes A Dollar Out Of “Fifteen Pennies” With New Music Video

Sam Lachow is making a dollar out of “Fifteen Pennies,” with this brand new single he dropped. When compared to his last release, “Broken Bat,” which was more light-hearted and fun, this track is more honest and raw. Lachow uses a poetic delivery style reminiscent of Shel Silverstein in the way that it is playful yet serious. He tackles topics throughout the song like struggling with addiction and the 2016 election. Then, Camila Recchio and Elan Wright come together to make one of the most goosebump-inducing, spine-tingling hooks that I’ve heard all year.

“There is a jungle you can stumble into,

America, with nothing and make it something but there is

Kerosene and matches all around, smoke and fire clouds

You’ll barely see the light that’s meant to guide you”

The music video shows Sam sitting at what could be the Mad Hatter’s tea party, had he celebrated his very merry un-birthday in a suburban backyard. Fire fills the teacups helping to visually reinforce the dramatic beat co-produced by Jake Crocker. Meanwhile, abstract black-and-white imagery cuts in-between shots of Lachow, furthermore adding to the drama. The sophistication in Justin Frick’s cinematography just raised the bar again for all future music videos from here on out.
