Sassyblack Gets Vulnerable in ‘New Black Swing’

With almost a decade of experience behind her, Sassyblack continues to push herself with fresh releases. Previously she was one half of the dynamic duo THEESatisfaction, now we see a new side of her in the R&B album New Black Swing. You can feel her soul spilling out over the beat. Her infectious energy makes you want to close your eyes and travel to a world only her atmospheric vocals can create.

“I’ve always wanted to write & compose a R&B record, but the fear of ultimate vulnerability & judgement haunted me. Would my Queer Black girl feelings be acceptable? With that said, this is a very intent album. Probably the most intentional record I have composed yet.”
I’m already on my second run through of the album, and as each song passes I dance a little more. Sassy keeps it funky and smooth start to finish. The album has a classic 90’s R&B feel wrapped in futuristic space age synths to remind you it’s 2017.
My favorite song has to be I’ll Wait For You. A groovy bouncy beat holds it down for Sassy’s quickly spit bars. Take a peek into her life, and let me know which song you get down with.
