West Coast diva Scarlet Parke unveiled her “Nowhere to Go” music video last week, taking us on another breathtaking journey set by her summer album, Flight Risk. The video released Feb 7th fits with the album’s message of breaking through personal barriers and self-discovery.
The video is a vivid representation of being caught inside your own mind. The almost primordial images depict the pain and frustration of ruminating on our skeletons; unfulfilled dreams, feelings of isolation, and hopeless lack of direction. Scarlet brings viewers back from the brink, reminding us that although these feelings of anxiety dissuade us, countless others have been there before, and we are not alone.

Under the direction of Marko Kharmyschev and Steven Trueba, Scarlet delivers “Nowhere to Go” through a myriad of vast landscapes. At first, finding herself in an abdicated estate, searching for familiarity among the discarded items, eventually finding comfort at the piano. Scarlet is clearly passionate about music as a creative expression and writes her own music.
Her comfort in familiarity is shortlived and contrasted by the next shot of her wandering through a vast desert. A long trail of her footprints follows her to an abandoned airplane, bringing resolution to the wandering and sense of isolation. The graffiti on the plane shows viewers that many have been there before, and we’re not alone in our wandering.

This video was made on a humble $500 budget, yet plays like a big-budget flick. Scarlet has been on a steady rise since the release of her Flight Risk album.
