South Florida Hip-Hop Artists

11 Super Talented South Florida Rappers

South Florida hip-hop artists make up one of the nation’s most diverse and talented underground scenes. From the club scene’s commercialized sound to conscious hip-hop at Miami open mics, there is truly a perfect balance of the rap spirit across the entire state.

South Florida is a true melting pot bubbling with talent. Veterans like XXXTentacion, Trina, and Rick Ross paved the way for rappers from Homestead to Palm Beach and beyond.

Today’s emerging rappers continue to earn immense support from fans and critics alike. In 2021, these 11 artists are changing the game and grabbing their own spotlight.

South Florida Hip-Hop Artists / Rappers You Should Be Following

Xali

Broward County rapper Xali has been on the underground hip-hop radar since 2017, but his approach to 2021 has been nothing short of extraordinary. With plans to drop brand-new music every week of the year, he’s already off to a fast start.

So far, Xali has come through, releasing new tracks like “Sweet Love,” “The Fast Way,” and “Closer”. He dropped his Dolla$ign$leep EP before the year even started which featured production from Infamous, Only Ortega, and Whitemayo. If he keeps up the pace, Xali will have kicked out at least three albums’ worth of fan-pleasing music before the year ends.

Zoey Brinxx

North Miami’s Zoey Brinxx is coming out strong in 2021 as one of the year’s hottest hip-hop phenomenons. Brinxx first made waves back in 2018 with the solo track “Humble Me” and a collab with Love & Hip-Hop: Miami’s Amara La Negra on “Tu y Yo.” In 2019, she won the 99 Jamz-sponsored Queens Don’t Compete showcase, following that win up with a Kiddo Marv collab for their 2020 single “Red and Blue.” This year, Brinxx comes out swinging with her aptly-named Bigg D-produced release, “Female Biggie.” With more collaborations on the way, Zoey’s star is destined to keep rising.

Wifisfuneral

Palm Beach rapper Isaiah Rivera aka Wifisfuneral made XXL Freshman Class of 2018 with distinctive emo-trap beats and a compelling style. Drawing on the music he grew up listening to, Rivera strives to create something original and out-of-the-box every day.

For Wifisfuneral, creating new sounds is a way to help other artists evolve and reach even bigger creative heights. Citing Juvenile and Cash Money as his most relatable artists. Other significant influences include Lil Wayne and Kid Cudi. It’s easy to hear that inspiration in his own tight new-school cadence and lyrical gymnastics.

Prez P

Miami native Prez P spouts positive vibes clothed in somber cloud raps like “Neva Love Em” off The Ambience EP. Like many of today’s emerging hip-hop artists, Prez P got his start with his group Da Camp’s mixtape collaboration on VII Day Vacay, way back in 2012. Prez continued to produce more solid projects, like 2018’s politically-charged Prezidential.

He’s keeping up the momentum with new projects planned for 2021, like his latest video for fan-favorite “In Her Phone,” featuring RiiahWORLD & Fae, from concept album Lost In Technology.

Oya Baby

Oya Baby is a hot hot hot commodity in South Florida and beyond. The dancer-turned-rapper got all eyes on her with late 2020’s “Super Thot” and its N.O.R.E.’s smash single “Superthug” flip. The track’s South Beach-themed official video has earned over 100,000 views. Her confidence is totally justified in “Try Me” and the sweet and spicy “Cinnamon.”

Oya Baby kicked off 2021 with an Int’l Nephew collab on “Bout It, Bout It,” and with veteran Flo Rida’s backing her, this Libra chica has the mad rhyming skills, fresh style, and sizzling looks that are bound to kill 2021.

VEGA

VEGA‘s name tells you just what to expect from his music. VEGA is an acronym for Visualize Everything in Getting Aware. If you like the T, then VEGA will sate your thirst cause he spills plenty of it. He spent the last year’s lockdown working on new music in his home studio when he wasn’t binging on Netflix like the rest of us. Watch for his latest no-bullshit project, F U Money, to be released sometime this year.

Tierra Traniece

If authenticity and slick lyricism is what you’re into, Tierra Traniece has what you want. Back in 2019, Tierra captivated Miami with her spoken-word EP My Funny Valentine followed by her breakthrough single, “Fool Me Once.” The track, produced by Rippa on the Beat, dominated Florida radio stations and solidified her status as an up-and-coming South Florida hip-hop artist.

Last year, the poet and rapper released The Rookie and the Vet featuring six songs, including “Fool Me Once.” In October she dropped her autobiographical “Love on the Line,” and we can’t wait to hear more from Tierra in 2021.

R. Eddie

South Florida hip-hop artist R. Eddie has been making music since high school. He used that time to hone his skills, even learning how to produce his own tracks, before making his official debut. That learning period has helped him become one of South Florida’s stand-out artists in 2021.

R. Eddie dropped his first album in 2018, and since then he’s been cranking out stellar tracks. His signature style mixes trap, pop, and funk with old school and experimental beats that embrace both east coast and west coast flavors.

FloKid

Hailing from North Miami Beach, FloKid takes South Florida rap to new highs with masterful lyricism and mad storytelling skills. Breaking from the cloud rap that’s all the rage in the Sunshine State with engaging storylines and sharp flow.

Billing himself as the savior of North Miami Beach, FloKid’s music is relatable and sometimes straight memorial, like the song “Regal,” penned in memory of his late older brother who gifted him his first car which was – you guessed it, a Buick Regal. FloKid shows us a side of Miami most of us never see, and the way he does it is captivating.

Johnny Oz

Johnny Oz originally entered the rap game alongside friend and fellow South Florida hip-hop-artist , the late XXXTentacion. Boasting tours with Lil Xan, X, and YG, the rowdy rapper is hitting the ground running this year. The Broward County rapper was super prolific throughout 2020, dropping singles like “Jeepers Creepers” plus the EP Planet Oz, which features solid tracks like “Coraline” and “Planet 777.” His visual and lyric videos for songs like “Too Cool for School” and “Beast in the Night” are fan favorites, and they’re just what the doctor ordered for blowing up the club or your next house party.

Ankavious

Another North Miami native, South Florida hip-hop artist Ankavious is making waves with his latest release, “Life Is Short.” The track delivers on his hustle-style with gritty bars about his goals in life and how he moves toward them. The self-produced single is just one of the tracks Akavious plans to drop in 2021. Look for an official music video for “Life Is Short,” plus an EP tom come out later this year.
