Psychedelic Hip-Hop Reggae Group Space Kamp Releases New Rule-Breaking, Love-Spreading Album ‘Electric Lemonade’

Space Kamp is a Pennsylvania group that intelligently blends psychedelic soundscapes with hip-hop and reggae. The group is made up of Oskee and Adoo, founders of Rebel Hippies, a cannabis culture lifestyle brand and radio show. “Too weird to live, too rare to die” is an appropriate moniker to attach to Space Kamp. Recently, the eclectic group took to letting loose singles before the timely release of their Electric Lemonade album at the end of June. Tracks like “Life’s A Beach” and “A.D.I.D.A.S” set the tone in many ways for the full-length project.

After first coming together in 2017, Space Kamp set out to create whatever felt right without limitations. With the release of their first single, “Stoner Chic,” they were able to grab the attention of High Times and get endorsements from Illadelph Glass, Beard Bros Pharms, Weedmaps, and SRH Productions. The song still resides on over 150 Spotify playlists. This led them to three years of continuous touring upon the release of their collaborative album Terpene Station. After three U.S. tours and two Canadian tours, they built a cult following of fans they lovingly refer to as “Kampers.”

Electric Lemonade is a sonically entrancing, yet still palpably grooving collection of cuts. With each track, they take the listener on an auditory journey that free-flows between genres, taking root at times in hip-hop and reggae. “Life’s A Beach” is a perfect example of the plethora of vibes Space Kamp can give you in one track. The song itself is a homage to Hunter S. Thompson and his Gonzo journalism.

Listening in, you hear a torrent of crashing, echoing textures hitting you like waves in the background. On top of it, a mesmerizing beat that almost trips over itself at times. Spacey, yet driving cadences are let loose left-and-right by Oskee and Adoo. The second verse is even in Spanish—Space Kamp keeps you guessing! The hook will get you incredibly lost at times, between the hypnotic gang vocals and trippy textures in the background.

“A.D.I.D.A.S” or “All Day I Dab And Smoke” is another anthemic, yet psychedelic masterpiece by Space Kamp. With wavy instrumentals and equally entrancing delivery, the duo manages to get you grooving seamlessly. This is the kind of track that makes you want to blow big smoke into the universe and laugh. There’s word from their social media pages that the visuals for “A.D.I.D.A.S” will be dropping soon.

Space Kamp has built a cult following in a lot of the same ways as Hunter S. Thompson himself. During past tours, “Kampers” will follow them from city-to-city. Their brand “Rebel Hippies,” founded by Adoo and Stoney J, has become a part of their overall community. With Electric Lemonade, they’re continuing to expand their sound and feed fans the vibes they love. Listen to the full album below and get lost.
