Important Tips To Consider If You Want To Successfully Detox From Marijuana – (THC Detox)

If you’re like us, you have probably been enjoying yourself a little more than usual during your time in quarantine. No worries, we’re not judging. But as we transition back to normal life, you may be considering a THC detox.

Whether you want to detox from THC to enjoy cannabis more with a lower tolerance, or you want to pass a drug screening for a new job- there are a lot of reasons to take a break after months of building up toxins in your body.

Here, we’re sharing some of our favorite tips for an easy and effective THC detox.

Why Does THC Build Up in Your System?

THC is known for being highly lipophilic, meaning it likes to stick to fats and oils. When you consume cannabis products, your body absorbs the THC, which can then linger for days or even weeks after use. THC binds to fat in the body like in fat tissues, in the liver, or spleen. Over time, the body can metabolize the lingering THC, flushing it out in urine, sweat, and other bodily excretions.

Individuals that frequently ingest or smoke cannabis products may not be able to rid their bodies of THC without a cleanse or full detox. This is because each ingestion or use of marijuana will replenish the stored THC. Individuals with faster or more efficient metabolisms may naturally detox and flush THC more quickly than those with slower or less efficient metabolisms.

No matter how fast or slow your metabolism may be, there are some excellent tricks that can help you to detox from THC quickly. And, as efficiently as possible.

If you’ve just gotten out of quarantine, and are ready to start fresh with a THC detox, try one or all of the following techniques:

Drink Plenty of Fluids

The kidneys are incredible little organs that help our bodies to remain self-regulated and healthy. Kidneys filter out nasty toxins and unwanted visitors to the bloodstream. Through the filtration process, the toxins are flushed out of the body via urine. This is why staying hydrated and drinking tons of fluids is a great way to help your body speed up the process of detoxing from THC.

Some popular liquids to use when staying extra-hydrated to detox your body include:

  • Lemon Water: While there is some debate regarding the detoxifying properties of lemon, this citrus fruit is undoubtedly chock full of vitamins. It is a great way to flavor your water to help yourself stay motivated to drink. Lemon water has also shown promise as a metabolism accelerant, meaning it may help your body to process THC more quickly.
  • Cranberry Juice: Cranberry is a common home-remedy for warding off kidney and urinary infections. This makes cranberry juice the perfect fluid for a THC detox. Cranberry juice is full of natural vitamins antioxidants known to help detox and support the kidneys to help increase your body’s detoxification.

Tip: Mix pure cranberry juice (unsweetened) with water to cut the bitterness, but avoid sugary versions.
  • Green Tea: Like cranberry juice, green tea is full of antioxidants that help the body to process and remove toxins. Green tea is also thought to be a metabolism accelerant and could help to increase the antioxidant capacity of your plasma to increase detoxification. The caffeine in green tea may also help to increase urination and make you crave more fluids, thereby helping you to hydrate as thoroughly as possible

Start Up Your Exercise Routine

Though the kidneys and liver are most commonly associated with detoxification of the body, the skin is actually the largest excretory organ. Skin naturally releases sweat throughout the day and during exercise.

There is some small debate surrounding whether or not there is a significant presence of toxins in sweat, but whether or not you can sweat out THC, getting your workout on is a great way to help your body release toxins.

Cardiovascular activities and regular exercise are vital components of burning fat, which is where most THC lingers after consumption. Establishing a daily exercise routine to sweat out and work off some toxins is a great way to speed up your THC detox. It is also another good way to encourage yourself to drink plenty of fluids.

Move Towards a Lean Diet

In following a lean diet, you work to eliminate high fat and high carb foods from your life in order to burn fat and reduce the retention of fat from foods.

Sugars, complex starches, red meats, fatty foods, and highly processed items are avoided on a lean diet. These foods can be replaced by fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins like fish, chicken, and vegetarian substitutes. By reducing the fat and sugar you consume, you also reduce your body’s ability to hold onto fat storage.

Use a Detox Program

If you want to give your THC detox an extra boost, or need to pass a drug test in just a few days, try using a 5-day detox kit to speed up the process. This program helps to flush the body of virtually all toxins in as little as 5 days by combining natural herbal supplements with a strict diet/meal plan to help the body rid itself of any unwanted toxins as quickly as possible.

Stop Smoking

Although combining all of these methods of detoxing will help you to remove THC from your system, the only surefire way to detox from THC is by taking a tolerance break.

In order to rid your body of THC, you need to stop smoking, taking edibles, consuming tinctures, or enjoying cannabis in any of the ways you prefer to do so. Each time you consume cannabis, more THC enters your bloodstream and is stored in your body, making it harder to detox over time. If you want to detox, stop smoking, you can start again after you pass your test!
