The Flower Shop Dispensary Sioux Falls Is South Dakota’s First Medical Cannabis Store

Sioux Falls, South Dakota recently celebrated the opening of the city’s first medical cannabis dispensary. The Flower Shop Dispensary is located in Southwest Sioux Falls. They offer an experience-based atmosphere to new and veteran cannabis users alike.

The Flower Shop Dispensary Experience

Unlike a lot of dispensaries nowadays, The Flower Shop carries cannabis that is not yet in individual packaging. The flower is stored in large glass jars so that customers have the opportunity to see and smell each strain of cannabis before deciding which to purchase. The jars are clearly labeled with the strain’s name, as well as the percentage of THC. Budtenders are ready to answer any questions and help patrons find which products best fit their preferences. Additionally, The Flower Shop only carries cannabis that is bought and manufactured locally in South Dakota.

Breaking Down Stigmas

In the Dakota News Now story of the grand opening, some customers expressed still having worries about stigmas surrounding being a cannabis user. They did not want their face to be shown on television. However, customer Brian Reiter was quite open about how cannabis has helped him cope with pain from his Crohn’s disease. Reiter stated, “It is a relief that I don’t need to worry about being a criminal to, you know, ease my pain. Don’t worry about what other people think if it gives you relief. Then, I say go for it.” By sharing his story, Reiter’s openness and encouragement will show his fellow Midwesterners that cannabis can be a valuable medical tool.

Store manager David Blackburn believes the stigmas in the Midwest surrounding cannabis are slowly starting to change. He is proud of the locally sourced cannabis in his store. As well as the fact that The Flower Shop is the only “deli-style” dispensary around. They give customers a sensory experience by allowing them to pick out their own cannabis, see it weighed out, and then packaged right in front of them. By doing this, The Flower Shop is helping break down the mysteries of purchasing cannabis. This creates an inviting environment for first time users and anyone who is searching for a natural method of pain relief.

Locally Sourced Products

The Flower Shop products range from flower, edibles, pre-rolls, tinctures, vape cartridges, and accessories like grinders and apparel. Some of the top selling strains are White Dream #1, Runtz, Rainbows at Night, and Juice Box. Edibles and tinctures are from the South Dakota brand Badlands, named for the nearby national park. Also available on The Flower Shop website are multiple educational articles such as “CBD Benefits for Athletes” and How Cannabis Can Help You with Your Mental Health.”

The city of Sioux Falls is ahead of the curve as use of medical cannabis grows in South Dakota. Locals can now access plant-based methods for pain management at The Flower Shop and be proud of supporting locally sourced medical cannabis.
