Topp is one of Seattle’s most unique up and coming artists and his new track, “Anything,” shows that he is literally willing to try anything. Coming with a sound and style that you don’t see from many artists, he’s able to contort his voice into multiple different octaves, giving us different voices almost as if you’re listening to multiple people. He reminds a little of JPEGMAFIA’s recent fire, but with this energy as if something is trying to break out of Topp.
Just earlier this summer I had the pleasure of meeting Topp while he was in the studio. A cool and calm dude, you almost wouldn’t even know he was there. He was nose deep in the notebook while this beat was playing, doing trials on a new hook or verse for a song. In that quick session alone, I realized there was something different about this guy. What he did with his voice and how he approached his music was something of a true artist who wanted to stand out from basic rap. Of course, once he was out of his zone and had the chance to talk, he was nothing but chill. A real class act. Someone who knows how to navigate the industry and just really talk with another person.
