Urban Aroma is your plug for cannabis brands, cannabis delivery, and dispensaries. While they currently operate in New York, Washington DC, and Barcelona, the company has its sights set on the globe.
Rooted in culture, the cannabis platform was built from the underground and moves directly from within the culture. Beyond finding cannabis in New York and DC, folks can find a platform for art, activism, and social equity. The leadership team at Urban Aroma is filled with music and culture heads. The platform is headed up by M-1 of Dead Prez, filmmaker Umi, and John Monopoly, the former manager of Kanye West.
We were fortunate to link up with M-1 and Umi of Urban Aroma while at MJ Unpacked in New York through our mutual connection at 40 Tons. When we came into one of their shops on the Lower East Side, it was dope to see 40 Tons merch on display and find out how deep their ties run.
Summer Series Announcement
The company recently announced its upcoming Summer Series of events at Legacy NYC with Styles P, Rakim, and Mike Epps. 25% of the upcoming Summer Series events proceeds will go to partner organizations like Mission Green and Fortune Society. Mission Green is seeking to secure the release of individuals serving time for cannabis-related offenses and putting money directly on inmates’ books. Fortune Society is helping former and current prisoners create opportunities for themselves by assisting with education, housing, and employment assistance.
Providing Safe Access
While the United States sits at the precipice of cannabis being both legal for many and yet still illegal, consumers everywhere are looking for safe access everywhere. Various platforms have grabbed a hold of particular markets but few markets are more exciting than New York City and Urban Aroma is the place to find weed in New York. NYC Mayor Eric Adams recently released a statement saying they won’t be “heavy-handed on illicitly weed sales” and telling residents to “enjoy yourself, light up.”
The newly appointed CEO of Urban Aroma, John Monopoly, along with the rest of Urban Aroma has challenged Eric Adams to ensure social equity and legacy operators are not left out of the licensing process. John was quoted saying, “It’s great to hear Eric Adams tell his New York constituents that he’ll be taking a less heavy-handed approach to unlicensed marijuana sellers in NY, but the reality is, historically the Black and Brown community has always been targeted and faced heavy-handed penalties in this space…Urban Aroma is continuing to push for change and social equity, across both policies and ownership, to ensure legacy cannabis organizations are not sidelined during the licensing process.”
Urban Aroma is a brand to look out for on the East Coast. Whether you’re looking for cannabis on East Coast, searching for events or culture, or looking for the next superstar in legal cannabis businesses, we’d recommend keeping an eye on the platform.
