Trinity (Deluxe Edition) by UZ is a World-Warping Finale for the French DJ’s Bass Estate

It’s the end of an era. After releasing over 200 tracks and performing at every major music festival, UZ is hanging up his mask and moniker. That name was a big mystery up until 2017, when it was revealed it belongs to none other than DJ Troubl. Between world champion DJ status and trendsetting bass and trap, the departure of UZ will solidify the success of his discography.

Some would argue that UZ’s style is almost string-pulling in its influence on other artists. Trinity (Deluxe Edition) is a representation of such camaraderie as much as it is of his own meta. The original tracklist of Trinity is scooped in a net by the Deluxe Edition to include edits, features, and entirely new tracks. This isn’t just a rehash of old content, but rather a mixtape featuring a genuinely new experience.

Performing alongside UZ in Trinity (Deluxe Edition) are the likes of Basstrick, UNKWN, Brothel, and other low-end lurkers. The lineup of bass and trap proficient producers mixes well with features from rappers and vocalists like Snowy, Vinny Virgo, Solo Sam, and Somber Hills. Any fans of proper dubstep, neo-trap, or Euro bass music in general are simply going to fall in love with this UZ project.

What is most unique about Trinity (Deluxe Edition) is that, as mentioned before, UZ sticks more to a mixtape form. One song will introduce itself, if only for a few minutes at times, and stealthily swap into a remix or edit. Motifs, tempo, and vocalists persist as the overall beat and style morph independently.

It’s also hard to say Trinity (Deluxe Edition) appeals to any one single genre. While it’s certainly a bass and trap hybrid project, certain tracks stand out. The title track “Trinity,” as well as “Demons,” for example, are reminiscent of trip hop – sticking to a low tempo as more of a chillout break in the mix. Meanwhile, LYNY’s remix of “No Trust” is quite inevitably future bass.

“Bang Bang,” alongside its remix by Bailo, moves a bit closer to brostep with mid-range, shrill industrial sounds. The final mix, “Fire” featuring SoloSam and remixed by Great Dane, shares trap aesthetic but also hints a techno pulse. Overall, this project is filled with immense variety while bolstering trap and dubstep bangers in the double digits.
