The Weigh In: Deadmau5 and Carnage Fight Onstage in Canada

974 million viewers. A-List heavy hitters square up for the fight of the century. Two enter, one leaves. All or nothing. Deadmau5 vs Carnage.

Things got heated in Calgary when Deadmau5 and Carnage went head to head as they played back to back. According to the accuser, Joel Zimmerman (deadmau5) pushed Carnage as he was leaving the mainstage, and Joel was entering said stage to play his set.

According to Carnage, Joel’s tour manager was purposefully talking about Carnage in close vicinity to him, in an attempt to get his attention. Upon hearing that, Carnage obliged to talk to Joel in person, saying “Wassup Joel, got anything to talk about to me?” which allegedly  triggered Joel to proceed to shove him. After that, Joel then “ordered 20 security guards” to kick him out of the festival.

In Carnage’s snapchat story, he proceeds to call Deadmau5 many names in an attempt to grab his attention.

Deadmau5’s rebuttal? One twitter post says it all.

Ironically their words hold no weight, since there is no video evidence as of yet.

Soup’s opinion:

Carnage

Carnage is a douche, pardon my French. I do not like him. I have only enjoyed one song that he’s made, RGV with Milo & Otis. They’re the only reason why I like that song. He’s been around for just under 9 years, but has only become popular in the last 4-5. His biggest collaboration is either with G-Eazy, or Borgore. Besides that, he doesn’t have that much to brag about.

Deadmau5

This guy has been performing since 1998, and became popular at around 2006, with “Faxing Berlin”, then “I Remember” with Kaskade, and Ghosts n Stuff with Pendulum alumni Rob Swire. Under his belt are collaborations/performances with the legendary rock band Foo Fighters, Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, Pendulum, Eric Prydz, Skrillex, Kaskade, and Wolfgang Gartner.

Verdict

Once I see evidence I’m on Joel’s side. Carnage admitted to being the first one to confront deadmau5, which could give Joel a reason to call security, given their history. If I were in deadmau5’s position, I’d do the same thing. I’d rather not get beaten up right before a headlining set.

Fault is also with the event promoters. I believe they did this on purpose. Nobody in the right mind would put deadmau5 and Carnage on not only the same lineup, but have back to back set times.

EDIT: FOOTAGE OF THE FIGHT RELEASED. Oh wait. Nevermind. It’s just a music video. I’d pay to see deadmau5 and Carnage do something like this.
