It’s been a little over a year since Yel dropped her debut EP The Life I Live, and she’s still got more to offer us from the project. Having put over four years of work into the EP, it’s no question why she would still want it to be getting the love and recognition it deserves.
Keeping the buzz alive, a couple weeks ago the LA-by-way-of-Washington artist dropped her music video for “Live” off of her debut EP. The track opens with a rough instrumental that is similar to when a jazz band is warming/tuning up their instruments.
A dominant force on the mic, Yel’s confidence and swag bleed out on this track like an open wound. Hitting every syllable like her life depends on it, she wants you to hear every word she’s got to say.

A Story To Live
At about the 1:08 minute mark, there’s a break where you can just vibe out with Yel to the beat. However, after that she hits it hard. Straight spitting on the mic, her tempo speeds up to create the racey energetic end to “Live.” It is always impressive when a song can hit a switch up like this. It shows a level of talent and musical understanding from an artist that gets listeners excited even when they don’t know what for. They just know that what they heard was dope as hell.
Like the rollercoaster that life is, “Live” takes you on an up and down journey similar to how life can be. One moment things are going rough, then it can be going good and everything can be chill. Then, almost out of nowhere, life can get back in your face with another challenge to overcome.
