SUS is new to the Seattle music scene. They’re a five-piece band blending between hip-hop, neo-soul, and funk. The band was formed by guitarist Taylor Doran, bass player John Loft, Keyboardist and vocalist Matt Guthrie, drummer Andrew Savoie and MC Jesse Desean.
Although they’re new as a unit, Savoie and Desean are bringing experience from other projects. Savoie is one half of Remember Face, an experimental hip-hop duo. Desean was part of Portland hip-hop duo the Chill Crew.
SUS has a debut album slated for an April 2018 release. Tied to their album release is a revealing of the meaning of SUS. The sneak peek provided to me sounds like a jazz-esque hip-hop track. A smooth sound that is made for speakeasies and sipping whiskey.
