I’ve been following Sam Lachow since the Shankbone days and I’ve always been impressed with his goofy, innovative, self- produced music.
Then, Friends, Funk, & Liquor came out. It was pretty obvious that he got stuck in the Trap, writing about being in a drugged out stupor. Showing up to his shows already faded, and mumbling through songs. Forgetting his own lyrics but saying “fuck it.”
Then, I started seeing a woman popping up on his Instagram. It seemed week by week he was slowly crawling out of his hole. According to social media, he’s a sober man now. Shout out to the strong females out there who can hold a man down and make them their best selves!
Play Pretend is a beautiful production composed by his best friend Maggie Brown and Elan Wright. The various strings and ambient nature of the beats create a fairy tale world.
Sam Lachow – Play Pretend
Sam’s honest and raw lyrics riding the lines between rap and spoken word poetry. Saint Claire matches this emotion with his breathtaking violin. Take a quick peek into Sam’s life with his EP that clocks in at just 16 minutes.
