Atmosphere Announces New Album And Music Video “Virgo”

Minneapolis hip-hop duo Atmosphere has been an underground hip-hop staple since 1997. 11 years later Slug and Ant are going stronger than ever with the announcement of their 15th studio project “Mi Vida Local.” This album drops Oct. 5 and comes on the wings of a new music video “Virgo.” Slug and Ant are touring their new album this fall.  Dem Atlas, The Lioness, and DJ Keezy will provide backup as special guests. “Virgo” was shot on Super 8mm film by Jason Goldwatch. The imagery features rapper Slug riding on a train through rural America. Slug stares out the window and sips coffee while he “opines about his zest for life in the midst of uncertainty and what he sees as America’s worrisome political direction, among other things,” according to the press release.

Slug’s lyrics are cryptic and poetic, staying true to his thought-provoking and heartfelt style. Ant’s sounds wrap around the lyrics seamlessly and put you in the midwestern mindstate. The beat is smooth and simple, highlighted by plucking acoustic guitars.

“I’m much more nervous about these public servants

Kill the lights and shut the curtains

You ain’t-a real lion if you love the circus”
